Men Writing for Change:
Finding and Sharing Your Inner Voice of Transformation
January 5-6, 2018
Jesuit Spiritual Center at Milford (Ohio)
REGISTRATION ⇩
Join together with other men also on a spiritual journey for a retreat focused on inner transformation and the power of poetry to make this possible.
Often the most important things in life are those we’re not talking about. And at some point, almost every man is invited to reflect on these "forbidden" subjects and to begin a journey through unfamiliar territory. For some men it may be a journey taken in crisis, and for others it may be little more than a sneaking suspicion or subtle intuition that something in his world is amiss. Whatever has happened, there’s a dire need for him to make sense of and to understand his world anew.
The journey of our lives is poetry, a Homeric-like odyssey where each man goes in search of deeper truth and meaning. This is a time in his life where nothing speaks louder to him than mystery. Thus poetry enters his life, allowing a man to connect his head, heart and gut in ways his daily prose simply cannot.
Poetry is not some esoteric art, practiced by cloistered academics. Rather it is the language of nature in which we are all fluent. Throughout our time together we will work on accessing our own inner poet to help us make sense of our experience. We will create a space using nature, meditation, brotherhood and of course the inspiration of other poets to talk and write about life’s mysteries.

About the retreat Content Carrier
Brian Mueller will be the retreat Content Carrier. He has previously offered this retreat for the Indiana-Michigan M.A.L.Es with great success and now brings this writing program to Ohio.
Brian spends his days working as a graphic and web designer, but not before waking up each morning with a cup of tea and some poetry. He tries to write daily after spending some time in meditation. He has also published four volumes of poetry including Bull Head (2002), Bull Heart (2105) and More Bull (2016). The Bull series is also available as anthology called Complete Bull (2017) which chronicles in both poetry and prose the spiritual growth of man as he matures. Brian's next book will be out in November 2017 and is called Tomorrow Could Be Wonderful: 365 Selections from Brian's Poem of the Day.
